:I'm not 100% certain on this one - I'll need to go away and check several different translations, but as far as I recall he never mentions changing his name; rather, later translators used a Latin name to emphasize he was no longer a pharisee. G-d Himself uses the name Saul when speaking to/of him. It needs to be explained in the article that his name change was a "cosmetic" exercise by later men, not a real act by Shaul/Paul. Anyway, I'll go and dig out the commentaries and see what I can add. ::I think you're right, there is no mention of a name change. However, it doesn't necessarily follow that this was a later addition. Since he was born a Roman citizen he would have needed a Roman name at birth (I think) - i.e. he may have been both Saul and Paulus from the start.
