Many Creationists dispute this, claiming that the dating methods used to judge the age of the fossils are not always precise and that there are gaps within the fossil record itself. Furthermore, because the Earth was created 6000 years ago (according to [[James Ussher]]) it would be impossible for the fossils to be that old.
