However the books have drawn public support from Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Williams has publicly endorsed the trilogy as a valuable tool for spiritual education and critical thinking<ref>http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/03/10/npull10.xml</ref>, and has been "delighted" to see schoolchildren attending the stageplay <ref>http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2004/03/17/bodark17.xml&page=1</ref>.
