Self-esteem is the mentality of believing yourself something special. The [[media]], in particular children's shows, have been saying "Believe in yourself" for the better part of thirty years{{fact}}.
Some hyper-[[conservatives]] feel that this is a part of the conspiricy by the media to raise a generation of prideful, ignorant liberals. For of course, if you believe in yourself you're not believing in [[Jesus]], hence, you become conceited and self-rightous.
