Praetor was an ancient Roman title for a judge for interpreted and applied the [[Twelve Tables]] in vaious situations.

Praetor was an ancient Roman title for a judge for interpreted and applied the [[Twelve Tables]] in vaious situations.  It was also a step on the ''cursus honorum'', the list of positions below and leading to the position of [[Consul]].  The course is traditionally listed as proceeding from [[Senator]], to [[Aedile]], to Praetor, to [[Consul]], to [[Proconsul]].
