In December 2007, presidential and parliamentary elections were held, and the president, [[Mwai Kibaki]] was declared the victor. However, there have been allegations of foul play and election rigging, because polling done before the election showed the country supported known Socialist, [[Raila Odinga]]. Riots erupted across the country, between the [[Socialist]] supports of Odinga and the supports of Kibaki.
