Bush famously described the monetary policies of Ronald Reagan (the Laffer curve) as "Voodoo Economics" prior to his nomination as Vice President. Ironically, Reagan's "Voodoo Economics" were largely responsible for the downturn in the economy during Bush's term that was a largely responsible for his defeat by Clinton. Also, up until his nomination as Vice President, Bush took a pro-choice stand on the abortion issue.
