Wendy Carlos is perhaps the major proponent of the use of electronic synthesizers for realizing performances of such Baroque composers as J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, and others.
Wendy Carlos (b. Nov. 13, 1949) is known for being a leading proponent of synthesized music, traditional and newly-composed, especially for a series of recordings of J.S. Bach and other Baroque composers: ''Switched On Bach'' (1968), ''The Well-Tempered Synthesizer'', (1969), and others. Her albums popularized the music of Bach, Monteverdi, Scarlatti, and others and introduced electronic synthesizers to the general public in a way that was enthusiastically received.
