Abraham '''"Bram" Stoker''' was an author born in [[Dublin]] on November 8th 1847. Although in his lifetime, he wrote many novels and was a contributer to The Dublin Mail, an [[Irish]] newspaper, he is best remembered for his horror classic ''[[Dracula]]''. Prior to starting work on ''Dracula'', Stoker spent eight years researching [[European]] folklore and [[vampire]] myths and legends. Although he wrote other tales of the supernatural, none achieved the lasting fame of ''Dracula''.

He died on April 20th 1912 and was cremated. His ashes are displayed at Golder's Green crematorium in [[London]]. In [[Whitby]] where much of Dracula is set, there is a commemorative seat overlooking the harbour named in his memory.
