In the United States, both [[senator]]s and [[representative]]s are member of congress, but the term congressman/congresswoman is usually applied to a member of the [[House of Representatives]]. The term "senator" is unambiguous.  

 

Althought the term congressman/congresswoman may apply to any member of Congress, in the [[United States of America]] it is usually applied to a member of the [[House of Representatives]] rather than the [[Senate]].
