It's been a lot of fun, but I suppose the dream is over. When I first came to Conservapedia I was a skeptic. I wasn't sure how well this site could do - or even whether it would last. Then though, by some chance, I decided to join, I edited a bit, and I haven't looked back. I realized that Conservapedia's future is certainly bright. I began to develop an interest in both the mainspace and template-space, and I compiled many articles that I am proud of. In the mainspace:[[Cuba]], [[Marquis de Lafayette]], [[Waves]], [[Eddystone Lighthouse]], [[XYZ Affair]], [[Congressional Page]], [[O.J. Simpson]] and [[HTML table formatting]]. I've also done a lot of universities, including [[University of Maryland|UMD]], [[Syracuse University|Syracuse]], [[University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign|Illinois]], [[University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill|UNC]], [[University of Connecticut|UConn]], [[Pennsylvania State University|Penn St.]], [[University of Oregon|Oregon]], [[American University|American]], [[Villanova University|Villanova]] and [[Northeastern University|Northeastern]]. In the template space: every single clean up template - as I designed a standardized look through [[Template:Template]] (and thus [[Template:CPCN]], [[Template:Expand]], [[Template:CPLock]], [[Template:CPGram]], [[Template:CPPOV]], [[Template:Stub]]), [[Template:History Terms]], [[Template:Baseball]], [[Template:University]] (which I personally added to 67 articles) and [[Template:NFLDraft]]. My final edit statistics include 1407 mainspace edits and 287 template edits (plus talk, category, image, and cp edits and I have 3294).

==Conservapedia==

I joined Conservapedia in late April 2007 and started seriously editing in August.

I have 1400 mainspace edits, 287 template edits, 182 Conservapedia edits and a combined 750 talk edits (106 of which went towards template:standardization), plus a few other things (like images, Categories, etc.) and in total I have made 3276 edits.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://faleg.org/cgi-bin/conservapedia/editcounter_Tool1?username=Iduan|title=User:Iduan|date=2007-08-21|accessdate=2007-08-21|format=HTML|language=English|author=Interiot|work=Interiot's edit counter}}</ref> I have also blocked/unblocked over 100 users.<ref>http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=Special:Log&user=Iduan</ref>

In three contest, I have compiled 1205 points. My record is in the ongoing [[Conservapedia:Contest4]] - where I compiled 732.

I'm really trying to push the mainspace number up now. I hope to be in the 1000 range in a couple months. Beyond that I like to spread my edits around - and I also vary it. Sometimes I'll be watching the recent changes and I'll do drastic clean up to a low quality article I see, a lot of other times I'll be clicking "Random page" - and fixing up simple aspects like spelling or wikilinks.

While I have created or radically changed a few pages - as you can see on the right, most of my page edits are minor. I go through each random page and make small changes to encourage consistency - but primarily because if we just create a bunch of articles and then have a lot of crappy ones that are completely out of wack - then we'll turn into Wikipedia. To some extent, this is also why I work in the template space.

However, recently I've come to feel isolated from the community. Now this is not to say that the community has been cruel to me, many of you have been incredible in fact. Yet, I've felt like there was absolutely not trust placed in me. About a month ago I tried to get sysop rights, because I have been active in reverting vandalism and thus I come upon articles that should be deleted frequently, I have been active in cleaning up grammar, and many protected pages could use the minor cleanup that I've been willing to do, and also many templates are protected, and sysop rights would allow me to access those. The need was obviously present. However, I was ignored in all of my attempts, and then, I asked for night rights - as if you take a look at my edit history, aside from the weekend edits, most of my edits are late, as I do stay up late, and if I'm up, I might as well have the option to edit CP. Surprisingly, I was also ignored here. Then even more surprisingly, a user with next to no experience was given night rights, and this user turned out to be a vandal. I could not at the time understand how a user with no where near the record that I had was trusted so quickly, and this prompted more requests, yet eventually I made my peace, and for a while I did not ask for rights at all.  

Until recently. It was now days ago I asked for night rights and was again rejected, however what pretty much set all this into place was the fact that I noticed that once again, an editor with far less experience than me was given night rights. It's really hard to express in words my feelings over all of this. Even now I'm a little upset, as I have dedicated my time to Conservapedia - I have never vandalized a page, and I have been willing to do many tasks to better Conservapedia, yet still no one can trust me to edit at night. I loved to edit Conservapedia, but the feeling of being unwanted was driving me away. I was still upset today, so I sent an email to Andy explaining that I really felt like I needed to become sysop, as not only did I need the rights for my editing, but also because I felt I had established myself as a consistently good user, and I needed to know that in return I had achieved some trust. I also told Andy that if he felt I did not deserve these rights, then I need him to talk to me on AIM (private) so that I can have some idea of how to proceed. If not, I would leave Conservapedia after the contest. By now all of you know that Andy did not grant me sysop privileges not did he even talk to me.

I have created a few templates, [[Template:Template doc inline|Template doc inline]], [[Template:Template doc|Template doc]], [[Template:Plainlink|Plainlink]], [[Template:Template]], [[Template:Baseball|Baseball]] and [[Template:University|University]] (which I put on 67 articles so far). I also reworded the long, much-hated [[Template:Stub]] and then created with TK a larger redesign towards the goal of standardization. Most of those templates were relatively minor, but the one I'd like to talk about is Citations missing. The goal of that template was to provide a more clean/elegant version of the uncited templates, which in my opinion were over the top. Key differences are viewable through the color scheme - as citations missing keeps the background color of articles, and is separated merely by a border. Also, as far as technical aspects go, Citations missing has a few more links, some of which depend on what page it's put on.

I'm currently working on Roster templates for the [[National Football League]] - there were about 6 of them that I thought would be really easy - since people already had a foundation on the pages - but then I realized that I had to drastically change the style and re-work the rosters - so they actually proved to be more work.

Today I asked for the final time - it was even simpler, though. All I requested was a "yes" or "no" followed by his signature. I received neither. Andy, while I do respect you - the fact that you don't have the courage to explicitly say whether or not you think I deserve sysop rights is the primary reason I'm leaving. Andy, I really do admire what you've done here - in my eyes you're a great man and I hope that you have the great success with Conservapedia you deserve, in fact, honestly, I even hope that I'm invited back (obviously with rights), but as I said in the email, I wouldn't have cared if you had given me the chance and then taken it away the second I made even the smallest mistake, but I needed that chance.

 

My current goal is to become a sysop. I patrol for vandalism and therefore I need to delete articles fairly frequently, and I also edit templates - most of which are protected - so therefore, without rights, the question is what use am I here?
