[[Liberals]] sometimes redefine '''they''' to be a singular form that includes both "he" and "she".  This is gramatically incorrect because "they" is a plural pronoun, while "he" and "she" are singular.  "He" is traditionally used to refer to both men and women, but the feminist movement has usurped this tradition because of its purported gender bias, and pursued a "politically correct" alternative.

The use of the word "they" and other plural forms to refer to a singular person of unknown gender has a long history going back at least as far as Shakespeare (and every one to rest themselves betake - A Comedy of Errors, Act IV: Scene 3). It is also present in the works of Jane Austen and William Makepeace Thackeray.
