Director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer and actor Tom Hanks teamed up to make a film adaptation of the novel. It opened at the Cannes Festival and was conformed of an enseble cast. It was a high box-office success, however, it was critically lambasted for its pacing and ridiculous sounding dialog.
