Small market town on the banks of the [[River Tweed]], [[Berwickshire]], [[Scotland]]. Coldstream is famous as the location from which General Monck's Regiment of Foot marched on London in late 1659 on a mission which would lead to the overthrow of the [[Commonwealth]] established by [[Oliver Cromwell]] and the restoration of the British monarchy under [[Charles II]. Monck's regiment was consequently renamed the [[Coldstream Guards]] and has the longest continuous history of any regiment in the [[British Army]].
