I agree completely, it is an idiotic and annoying to see that we continue to shun Cuba, with no real reason to keep them out of the mix. Although I doubt this will happen until a new president comes into office for a few reasons. The first reason is that he has almost no time to open relations up with Cuba again, so the chances are slim. On top of that, he decided it was time to shake the cage with Cuba and say we wouldn't let communism to stay in power in Cuba, and would stop the transfer of power from Castro to his brother. (Sorry I can't quote the article that I remember reading this.) It may have helped in the Cold War, but now it can only benefit us. If you watched Sicko (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386032/), you may want to check the scene where they go to Cuba to get health care. Maybe we could learn a thing or two from Cuba about fixing our broken health care system.
TL;DR version (To Long; Didn't Read) No reason not to open up to Cuba, and we can only benefit from it now.
