Line 1: Line 1: −
John Smith was a leader in the Jamestown settlement. John Smith was very heroic in many ways and did many things to keep the settlers in Jamestown alive. One of the less honorable things was lying.  When the colonist came to Jamestown there was a terrible drought; There fore the crop didn't grow. When John Smith went looking for food some Indians captured him. Instead of telling the truth to the chief he told him that they were fighting the Spanish and their ship was wreaked on the Indian’s coast. When the chief asked why they had come so far into his land he said it was because they were going to attack the very tribe the chief's tribe was now fighting. So there was peace between the tribe and the settlers. The peace was increased when a different leader John Rolfe. married the chief’s daughter.
