The ''sweat room'' was a method of [[torture]] used in the [[USSR]] during [[Stalin]]s regime. Its main use was to "squeeze" [[gold]] out of people. Victims were put in a large, specially designed room until it was full, then the venilation was turned off and the heat turned up to 113 degrees [[Faranheit]].  People would be left in there for days at a time, being fed only salt [[herring]] and given no water. Being crammed in with other people and their sweat made people develop rashes as they stripped to lessen the heat. There were no toilets, either, and the smell was terrible.  Usually people would be left in there until they told where their gold was hidden or till they died of thirst.
