::Ed, don't you think they might have come up with it anyway? Would you say that Jews were treated just like other groups and never persecuted until OoS was published, and then all heck broke loose? Murray 14:53, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

:::For example, the First Crusade warmed up by slaughtering Jews before they got anywhere NEAR the Muslims, and that was almost 800 years before Darwin. And blaming science for whacko politics makes as much sense as blaming quantum physics for the New Age folderol that misquotes it. --Gulik5 15:08, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
There's a difference between 'unintelligent' and 'undirected'. Darwin just pointed out a real 'duh' moment in biology: Creatures that survive long enough to reproduce tend to pass their traits on to their children. Nobody knew about DNA back then, but the rest of his theory was rock-solid, or else it would have ended up on the scrap-heap alongside Lamarckian evolution and Spontaneous Generation. --Gulik5 15:08, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
