The '''First Indochina War''' (c. December 1946 - August 1, 1954) was a [[war]] fought in the French colony of [[French Indochina]], resulting in a [[Viet Minh]] victory. The French employed [[French Foreign Legion|LE]] troops almost exclusively. The First Indochina War culminated in the [[Battle of Dien Bien Phu]], which resulted in a Viet Minh victory, largely due to direct aid from [[Red China]].
Not long after the French were expelled, the Second Indochina War began (see [[Vietnam War]]).
