Typically speaking, most scientists regard young earth creationism as being completely and utterly insane. This is because scientific discoveries such as radio carbon dating and obsevations of the age of the universe appear to make it impossible. These scientists, however, are not considering all of the arguments and evidence.  

Most other scientists regard young earth creationism as being unscientific. Many do so because they believe that things such as [[radiometric dating]] and [[biology|biological]] observations have disproved it, or for ideological reasons.
