: I looked again and don't see a clear answer from you, or from Humblpi, StatsMsn, or anyone else here.  So I'll ask the "yes" or "no" question one last time here:  Suppose a disease has an overall incidence of 1 in 1000.  Suppose next that among 50 people who worked in a particular mine, 5 came down with the disease.  Do you dismiss the data and continue sending more women into the mine?  Yes or no, please.--[[User:Aschlafly|Aschlafly]] 18:40, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

::ASchlafly, in the case of your hypothetical mine, the answer is an ''unreserved'' "of course not".  But that is a false example, as in your story, you '''know''' the "number of women in the mine".  In the case of young women in the entertainment business, an estimate of 50 is likely orders of magnitude short of reality.  However, if you can figure out how many young women are in the entertainment business worldwide, you can contnue to test your thesis.  But until then, simply stating "the number of women in the entertainment business worldwide is 50" is ''not'' an adequate answer.  [[User:EngelUmpocker|EngelUmpocker]] 19:04, 22 May 2008 (EDT)
