He was educated at Brooklyn College receiving the Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy in 1961, and at New York University receiving the Master’s Degree in Near Eastern Studies in 1969. He has taught in the fields of Near Eastern Language and Literature, as well as in the areas of Old and New Testaments at Sarah Lawrence and C.W. Post colleges in New York. After immigrating to Israel in 1988, he taught at Tel Aviv University and the Joint Services Command and Staff College.

He currently teaches Aramaic, Syriac and Hebrew at Israel College of the Bible and had directed the “Gates of Hope—the Philippine Center of Israel”, which provides support and encouragement to Filipinos working in Israel. He resides in Jerusalem with his beautiful wife of 32 years, Exaltacion ([[User:ExieSchlossberg]]).
