:Chickens and turkeys ''are'' birds.  I didn't say that if they are birds they would fly, but if they flew they would be birds.  The latter does not exclude the possibility of non-flying birds.  As for the rest, the comment was in the context of dinosaurs supposedly evolving into birds, and to the point where they might have flown.  So if they had got to the point of flying whilst evolving ''into'' birds (not flying mammals, etc.), then they would surely have been considered birds.  [[User:Philip J.
