'''Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky''' (Theodosia, Crimea, 1817 - Theodosia, 1900) was a [[Russian]] painter famous for his ''seascapes''.

:: ''"Perhaps no one in [[Europe]] has painted the extraordinary beauty of the sea with so much feeling and expressiveness as Aivazovsky has".'' V. Adasov.

Some of his marine landscapes are: ''The Bay of Naples by Moonlight'' (1842), ''Seashore. Calm,'' (1843), ''Malta. Valetto Harbour,'' (1844). He worked also on paintings with naval warfare as the subject. He left more than 6,000 pictures, and became the most prolific Russian painter of his time.
