Ajkgordon, did I mention anything about YEC? Lenski was clearly talking about the God of the Bible, and the biblical description of creation, specifically including the length of time taken and the order of creation, is totally incompatible with the evolutionary story. If it is "presumptuous" to claim knowledge of how God created, then why do so many do that very thing by claiming that God used evolution? Rather, it's arrogant and presumptuous to reject His clear revelation for man-made ideas that ''presume'' that He wasn't involved!
Cantle, that you must misrepresent the basis for believing in creation suggests that without doing so your case is weak, if valid at all. The ''evidence'' is that the Bible has been transmitted through time very accurately. The Bible is not "anecdotal"; it is ''eye-witness history'', exactly the same sort of thing that allows you to know about almost anything that you did not personally experience, such as World War I (assuming you're not old enough to remember that) or even the date of your birth. Yes, ''your'' argument is convenient that you arbitrarily require particular evidence and reject all the evidence that is available.
