| | + | Do you have any other references, preferably something a little more substantial, for the Abramoff money edits? The "source" doesn't link to any FEC filings or anything else---it just makes the claim. I'd like to see something a little bit more verifiable than their accusations. --[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 10:25, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | Answering a request with three questions...interesting tactic. Unfortunately, your response didn't contain any official source, such as FEC records, showing Abramoff donated personally to Democrats. In fact, the one source you did add said the exact opposite, "All of Mr. Abramoff's personal contributions went to Republicans." Perhaps you could check CQ's website for donations from Abramoff. I'll be happy to fulfill your requests as soon as you fulfill mine. :::--[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 10:45, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | Actually, Jpatt, if you followed politics, as opposed to just copying-and-pasting from RW sources, you'd know the difference between "lobby money" and "lobbying-financed trips" or "receiving lavish gifts in exchange for political favors." In fact, why don't we go through the list of convictions associated with the Abramoff scandal: Italia Federici, co-founder of the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy, Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), Former Deputy Interior Secretary Steven Griles, highest ranking Bush admin official to be convicted, Tony Rudy, lobbyist and one-time aide to DeLay, Former White House official David Safavian, Michael Scanlon, a former Abramoff business partner and DeLay aide, etc. Now, that's the official conviction list---and I don't see any Democrats on the list. And heck, taking money from a Native American tribe because Abramoff told them to do it---that's not illegal either. I have yet to see any convictions of Democrats based on legislation for lobbying money. So unless you are going to suggest that no Native American tribe can donate to a campaign, or even better, you can come up with some proof of legislation for lobbying money, well---don't waste your time here. Report it to the Department of Justice as I'm sure they'd be interested! My guess is, though, you got squat but what you read on some blog someplace.--[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 11:50, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | First of all, what's with the quote box? Who quote boxes themselves? Second of all---people return donations because of people like you who try to make something from nothing. The appearance of impropriety is often as bad as the impropriety itself. Of course, when in doubt, go to the record--who has been convicted and who hasn't? Republicans convicted? Check. Democrats convicted? Nope. So you can try and make all you want of it, Jpatt, but in the end, you make CP look less encyclopedic and more RW-blogish. Not a good look for a RW-blog, and even worse for an encyclopedia. --[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 12:31, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | Well, some Democrats decided to avoid the idea of any impropriety and returned all the money. Some Democrats decided that there was no impropriety so decided not to do anything about it. Shouldn't your question encompass the many Republicans that took money as well? You seem to jump over the nearly 3-1 Republican to Democrat ratio of received contributions. Heck, the only TRUE improprieties uncovered were ALL Republican, and ended in convictions. Try harder to vilify, Jpatt. When you're not copy-and-pasting your efforts are even worse. --[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 12:48, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | If you're going to accuse me of getting the last word---you have to stop responding. I mean, you DID ask a question in your last response, so I was forced to respond. I'd hate to leave a sysop w/o an answer. And you should be thanking me anyway for editing your edits. I'm trying to make you, again without thanks, the best editor on CP. :--) You're welcome! --[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 13:11, 11 July 2008 (EDT) |

| | + | Just wanted to thank you again for the rewrite on the Snow quote. I think you really hit it the second time. We're really beginning to work well together, and I think CP is the winner when that happens. Enjoy! --[[User:Jareddr|Jareddr]] 23:11, 22 July 2008 (EDT) |
