The term "global" implies the world is a single unit while the term "international" recognizes that different countries, different cultures, different languages, different ethnicities, and national borders exist.  Thus the two terms are not the same thing and using them interchangably is incorrect.  It is currently fashionable to use the term "global" without realizing the implications of that term, when "international" is clearly the appropriate term.

Another term sometimes used which means the same thing as globalism is [[New World Order]]. It generally implies anti-Americanism, or at least indifference to the achievements of America in favor of elevating countries that have achieved less to the same level (such as those in Europe or Africa).
