The [[ovum]] passes from the [[ovary]] to the [[uterus]], by being gently swept along by [[cilia]] in the Fallopian tubes. The tubes are no bigger than a quarter in diameter and no longer than a candy cane (which they resemble in shape). An [[ectopic pregnancy]] is one that improperly occurs in the Fallopian tubes instead of the uterus.
