::There is some current thinking that people traveled to the Americas by boat or reed rafts separately from those that came over the land bridge.  I think not enough is known to make any definitive statements at this time. -[[User:DrSandstone|DrSandstone]] 17:05, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

:::well, to clarify, Dr. Sandstone, there is evidence and theory that *some* indian people may have come by boat.  This is still highly debated, but the Mitochondrial DNA does suggest that about 10% of american indian people have a different "eve" from the rest of the Indian people.  That said, to the extent that people at CP accept the dates (I realize some of us are Young earth creationists), it is the common assumption in anthropology that Indian peoples came via the land bridge in 3 separate waves (dates generally given range from 30,000 years ago to 15000 -- little consensus exists on the date ranges).
