Herger was born May 20, 1945 in [[Yuba City, California]] and grew up on a cattle ranch. He graduated from East Nicolaus High School and, following in his parents' footsteps, became a rancher.
Herger was born May 20, 1945 in [[Yuba City, California]] and grew up on a cattle ranch. He graduated from East Nicolaus High School and, following in his parents' footsteps, became a rancher. From 1969 to 1980, he was the owner of Herger Gas Company, a propane distributor. Currently, he resides in Marysville when not in [[Washington, D.C.]].
