distinguish "natural" human language from others
A '''natural language''' is a [[language]] spoken by people that has arisen naturally from the languages spoken after the dispersal at [[Babel]]. Examples include [[English]] and [[French]], which arose from [[Latin]], as well as [[Hebrew]], [[Aramaic]] and others. The term contrasts between these languages and non-human "languages", such as [[programming language]]s or [[dolphin]] squeaks, and languages artificially constructed by humans, such as [[Esperanto]] and [[Klingon]].

Getting [[computer]]s to understand natural languages is a central problem in [[computer science]] known as [[natural language processing]].
