'''Cassandra''' was a daughter of [[King Priam]] of [[Troy]]. Her story does not appear in [[Homer]] who describes her only as the most beautiful of the daughters; but later myths describe how she was desired by [[Apollo]] who gave her the power of prophesy. When she spurned his advances he charged that her prophesies would always be right but never believed. She was given to [[Agamemnon]] at the end of the war, but was killed by his wife [[Clytemnestra]] upon their return to [[Mycenae]].
