The '''United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit''' is a federal court that was established by the [[United States]] [[Congress]] in 1891. Congress' Judiciary Act of 1891 established nine courts of appeals, one for each judicial circuit. They've grown in size, and today the thirteen courts have a total of 179 judgeships.
