A German Shepard is a large breed of dogs originally bred in [[Mongolia]]. The name "German Shepard" dates to the [[Crimean War]] where the Germans used many of the breed as work and rescue dogs. During [[World War I]] German Shepard dogs were known as "Ausberger Hounds" due to the anti-German sentiment in the [[United States]].
