A '''sharpshooter''' is someone particularly skilled in [[shooting]], being derived from ''sharp-eyed'' [[shooter]] or someone who can hit a target with [[pinpoint]] accuracy. As a [[formal]] designation in the [[military]] it denotes a rating above [[marksman]] but below [[expert]] in the use of [[small arms]].
Additonal uses of the term may apply to sportsmen having an accurate aim in sports like [[archery]], [[basketball]], ice [[hockey]] or [[soccer]].
