Snowdonia is a mountainous region of North Wales in the UK. It is named after Lord Snowdon, who first discovered it in the 12th century.fact Like much of Wales its former economy was based around the mining industry. After mining was outlawed by Margaret Thatcher much hardship was felt. fact Recently however manufacturing has received a boost from several high-profile international projects, most notably the watertight roof sections for the viewing cars of the Eurostar and the wings for the new Airbus A380.
