'''Energy drinks''' are a class of non-alcoholic or "soft" beverages which are promoted as giving the consumer more energy or "go" than typical liquid refreshments. The energy may not refer to the actual [[energy]] or calorific value contained in the drink but to natural or added substances that stimulate the brain or physiology.

The predominant additive in energy drinks is [[caffeine]] which is commonly found in [[coffee]], [[tea]] and [[cola]]s but in much smaller quanitities. Other stimulants may include [[ginseng]], [[guarana]], [[ginko biloba]], [[vitamins]] as well as [[inositol]], [[maltodextrin]], [[taurine]], [[carnitine]], [[creatine]], [[sugar]] and carbonated [[water]].
