3. The Cause of the Mexican war was a dispute where the line between Texas and Mexico lay. The war ended in February of 1848 when the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed.

5. "Bleeding Kansas was the name of a conflict that occurred over slavery in the 1850's. The reason for this graphic nick-name is the violence that occurred on both sides of the issue.
