Dirty bombs have received significant attention from intelligence services following [[9/11]], with the concern being that terrorists could obtain radioactive sources (eg from old nuclear reactors or depleted [[uranium]] shells) and use them in an attack. Although dirty bombs have less immediate casualties compared to conventional or nuclear weapons, they generate fear and render an area uninhabitable.
