The Minority Whip is a member of the minority political party in a legislature whose task is to ensure that members of the party attend and vote as the party leadership desires. The term "whip" is used in the country's of [[Australia]], [[Ireland]], [[England]], [[Canada]], and the [[United States]]. Given the two-party nature of the U.S. system, the minority whip is almost inevitably either a [[Republican]] or a [[Democrat]]. In the United States Senate the Minority Whip is [[Trent Lott]] (R-[[Mississippi]]), and the House Minority Whip is [[Roy Blunt]] (R-[[Missouri]])
