→‎Criticism of Pullman: raw paste from an email
Line 43: Line 43:
Most of Pullman's criticism is based solely on the controversial ''His Dark Materials'' series, the series for which he became famous and is most well known, in particular the killing of [[Yahweh]], the Judeo-Christian God as the climax of the novels.

Pullman is quoted as saying: "I'm trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief."
 +
He's not trying to make an accurate (or even objective) of the Narnia books. He just wants to keep anyone from reading them, so they'll have more time to read his "Dark Materials".

The Islamic society is the only civilization left on earth which has slavery. Narnia's Calormen has parallels with both medieval and modern Islam. Always trying to conquer, treating women as second-class citizens, lack of democracy, and so on.

Pullman's critique of Narnia is insane.

"The highest virtue, we have on the authority of the New Testament itself, is love, and yet you find not a trace of that in the books," he said.

I guess he didn't read "The Lion", because there's love all throughout that story. The girls sympathize with Aslan (whose only motivation is clearly love), and even the mice come to chew his ropes off - not out of instinct but love.

Pullman's critique is typical of liberals. They lie about Christian things, hoping you'll stay away from those things and never check up on them. Because if you do, the first thing you discover is that the liberals have lied.
