:Tithing is 10%. The missions are 2 years for young men and 1.5 years for young women. Also, some senior couples go on missions for 1.5 years. Some men go to college for a year before serving their mission, since the minimum age is 19 years old for the men. The male missionaries are called "Elders", because they must be ordained as Elders in the Melchizedek priesthood before they serve a mission. Women must be 21 before they can serve a mission, and if they aren't married by then, they are eligible to serve a mission.
