Anthony and Stanton started a paper, the Republic. The paper's motto: "The true republic - men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less" demonstrated their devotion to woman's rights. <ref>Encyclopedia Britannica, 1954, Vol. 2, pg 31.</ref>For nine years, Anthony lectured on women’s rights and abolition, from 1851-1860.
