I'm thinking that this page would work better as an essay, rather than a mainspace article, as "most famous paintings" is purely and inherently a matter of opinion, necessarily influenced by education and experience. That said, I must respectfully disagree with some of your selections. Just off the the top of my head, I'd say that [http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/seurat/grande-jatte/seurat.grande-jatte.jpg this], [http://blog.lib.umn.edu/snackeru/greet/images/scream.jpg this], [http://nsm.uh.edu/~dgraur/Images/hopper.nighthawks.jpg this], [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/37/WhistlersMother.jpeg this], and [http://www.gvjh.org/~artisland/2006_student_artist/Grimes_michelangelo/jpeg/handstouching.jpg this] are more instantly recognizable than, say, the van Dyck or the Gainsborough (among others). I would further suggest that many of the paintings you've chosen aren't even the most well-known for a particular artist. Joaquin Martinez, I know the category of famous paintings is important to you. I will give you a tip since you have been nice to me in the past. :) The searches "The world's most famous paintings" and "world's most famous paintings" get no searches a day or almost no searches a day by the 3 major search engines. On the other hand, the search "famous paintings" gets about 1,000 searches a day by the 3 top search engines and the search "world famous paintings" gets about 70 searches a day. Here are some other search statistics from the 3 top search engines: "famous landscape painting" - 70 searches a day, "famous art paintings" - 34 searches a day, "famous French paintings" - 28 searches day, "famous Bible paintings" - 19 searches a day. I hope this helps. In the future, I suggest removing the word "The" in front of articles as it almost guarantees you will get far fewer people finding an article. I will change the article title to world famous paintings as it faces somewhat less competition than famous paintings. Hopefully, that will help you get your top Google ranking.
I would also suggest having a introduction at the top of the page or introductory paragraphs that uses (but does not overdue it) the words "world famous painting". To a much more limited extant I would also suggest putting these phrases or words in the article: "famous paintings", artwork, "famous artists", "romantic paintings", and "antique paintings".
