A certain segment of the homosexual community expresses narcissism by promoting total and absolute sexual freedom.
'''Narcissism''' is excessive [[love]] of oneself. The word is based on the [[Greek]] myth of [[Narcissus]], who resisted the advances of a nymph and was consequently made to fall in love with his own reflection. In psychology, extreme narcissism is a symptom of [[Narcissistic personality disorder]], in which a person overestimates his own abilities and attractiveness, at the expense of concern for the needs and feelings of others. However, it has been argued that a moderate amount of narcissism is healthy.<ref>Morrison, A. (1997). ''Shame: The Underside of Narcissism.'' New York: Analytic Press.</ref>

For the homosexual narcissist, the goal is the pursuit of pleasure. A certain segment of the homosexual community expresses narcissism by promoting total and absolute sexual freedom. They advocate anonymous sex and extreme sexual behaviors that may explain the presence of a high degree of promiscuity in this segment of the population."<ref> [http://www.narth.com/docs/fitz2.html Homosexuality: The Untold Story]</ref>
