A major difference between democracy and socialism is the [[free market]] principle which allows buyers and sellers to agree on price without government interference. If I want to work for less money than Joey, and you think I can do just as good a job, the government shouldn't stop me (or you) from letting me work for you.

:Not quite sure what you're getting at, but I think you're confusing socialism with communism. Democracy in socialism are not mutually exclusive, for one. For two, a socialist economy is a [[mixed economy]], not a centrally planned economy. [[User:HDCase|HDCase]] 12:53, 25 November 2008 (EST)
