There are many similarities between Wullie and [[Bart Simpson]] and it has even been suggested that the creator of [[The Simpsons]] [[Matt Groening]], a known fan of British comic books, may have been influenced (knowingly or otherwise) by the work of Wullie's creator Dudley D Watkins.
