'''99 Red Balloons''' (1983) is a pacifist pop song from German singer Nena. The red balloons symbolize many things such as air force pilots in high tech jet fighters (each one a superhero or "[[Captain Kirk]]") or the singer's poignant wishes after her city is destroyed. The original German title is ''"99 Luftballons"'' which is translated as 99 air balloons.
