Haldane was a member of the [[Communist Party of Great Britain]] (CPGB) from 1937 to 1950, a period that covered the bloodiest of [[Stalin]]'s purges, the [[Molotov]]-[[Ribberntrop]] Pact, and the active opposition of the Communist party to the struggle against [[Nazism]]. The CPGB was an slavish, even traitorous supporter of [[Soviet]] policy throughout this period, responding in an automaton-like manner to every cynical or desperate u-turn in [[Kremlin]] policy, and responding with a blind eye to the savage murder of millions of innocent people. As a leading member of the CPGB and a prominent writer for the [[Daily Worker]], Haldane was complicit in the lies and moral crinmes of the party.
