The '''Bristol Channel''' is an arm of the [[Atlantic Ocean]] which penetrates the land-mass of [[Great Britain]], separating south [[Wales]] from the [[peninsula]] of south-west [[England]]. It narrows further inland to become the [[estuary]] of the [[River Severn]].
A number of major ports are located on or near the shoreline of the Bristol Channel: [[Bristol]] itself (with its outport of Avonmouth), [[Newport]], [[Cardiff]] and [[Swansea]].
